Pepsi’s Back to school video literally takes us back to the classrooms we left behind, the playgrounds we so loved, the teachers we loved to hate, the corridors that still haunt us in dreams, the uniforms that united us despite different backgrounds, the joy of sharing lunch, the tear-shedding sessions on getting a red mark on report card, that skipping of heartbeat when teacher caught us eating lunch (or writing poetry in my case) in the middle of a class, the group punishment that actually turned into a fun ‘antakshari’ activity.

Though in this video, the school friends meet in a reunion and promise to remain friends forever, I wonder how many of us actually keep in touch, once we step out of the school building.

YouTube channel TechRax wonders if an iPhone 5S can survive being run over by a train. Spoiler alert: No, it can't.

Durability testing has been a hallmark of the smartphone era since the introduction of the first Apple iPhone in 2007, and it's usually in the form of the drop test given that's the most common wear-and-tear our handsets suffer with everyday use.

That hasn't stopped some more outlandish efforts, like dropping a smartphone from a multiple-story building, smashing one with a hammer, or punching a quarter-sized hole in a gold iPhone 5S with a .50 caliber bullet.

Yet how would the iPhone 5S hold up against a train? A stupid idea, you might think. Perhaps illegal to even test out. You would be correct on both counts. That didn't stop popular durability testing YouTube channel TechRax from making this video, whereupon two different iPhone 5S devices are, as one might expect, obliterated by a fast-moving train.

 While it's not clear whether or not an iPhone could actually derail a train, and we don't really need to find out, it's definitely not a smart activity. After all, we can all reasonably assume that no phone, not even theiPhone 6, needs to be train-proof.

A beggar who lay at the side of a road pretending he had no legs was moved on by police who made him stand up and walk away. The man lay slumped on his front in Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, China, with his legs tucked under him, and his jeans stretched out to make it appear he had no legs.

He is approached by a police officer, who bends down and talks to him for some moments. The officer then reaches out and helps the man to his feet before guiding him across the road. Chengdu is one of a number of cities where officials have tried to clamp down on begging. They have staged aggressive campaigns to restrict begging in central areas. People living in the Sichuan provincial capital have been asked by the Civil Affairs Bureau not to give money to beggars and to report them to so called salvation management centres.

Similar campaigns have been waged in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other big urban centres. Anti beggar bus stop chairs, made of steel and designed to be slippery, have been installed in Chengdu to stop beggars being comfortable.

Coca-Cola Invents 16 Crazy Caps to Turn Empty Bottles Into Useful Objects

Rejoice, happy-go-lucky and environmentally conscious Coca-Cola-lovers. Thanks to this new "2nd Lives" kit from the brand, you can now transform your Coke into something even more delightful.

Is that just an empty soda bottle? Nope, it's a squirt gun. Useless piece of trash? Nope, it's a pencil sharpener, or the perfect rattle for your baby. Make your children happy. It shows the unfortunate moment the bridal party turns into a bridal wave when the jetty underneath them collapses into a lake.

Jackie and Dan Anderson were wined up along the wooden boards with their bridesmaids and groomsmen, but it buckled under the weight of so many people.

 

One of the bridesmaids reacts quickly enough to get off the jetty in time while a couple of others just get wet feet.

But, all the groomsmen and the rest of the bridesmaids sink along with the new Mr and Mrs Anderson.

Turkish air defense forces shot down a Syrian fighter jet on Sunday after it crossed into Turkey's airspace — and a news channel caught the whole thing on live TV.

 

The Turkish news channel Habertürk was in the middle of a live TV broadcast when a reporter heard the artillery fire over the hills behind him. He turned, and the camera scanned the skies. Suddenly, a black cloud of smoke began rising from the ground where the plane crashed.

When 7-year-old Angelina Jordan Astar got onstage to sing "Gloomy Sunday" for "Norway's Got Talent," no was expecting this voice to come out of such a little girl.

Her smoky, soulful tone is reminiscent of Billie Holiday, and makes her seem wise beyond her years. It takes a truly old soul to capture the feeling of Lady Day, let alone audiences' hearts.

Her incredible performance earned her a standing ovation and the tears of several audience members. 9 News reports that the judges "unanimously agreed to send Astar, who has been singing since she was 3, through to the next round of the TV talent contest."
